The Magical Adventure
Sapphire, Paul and Mark
Dragons and Unicorns
Chapter One
Sapphire Turner has long blonde hair and blue eyes and she is quite tall for her age. Her favourite colour is Red and Gold and she loves Pasta Bolognese. She loves to wear jeans and she will wear then whenever she can. Sapphire loves looking at the sky at night and most nights you can find her sat in her bedroom window looking out at the sky and watching. Sapphire has a brother called Paul who is also quite tall but he is a year younger that Sapphire. His favourite colour is Black and Silver and he hates Pasta Bolognese. He would rather eat a juicy Steak Pie with lots and lots of gravy. He also loves to wear jeans and shorts whenever he can. His favourite thing to do is torment his sister and play with their best friend Mark. Sapphire is 11 years old and Paul is only 10 years of age. To say that they are brother and sister they have always got on quite well and they are each other’s best friends, but they do have many other friends. Like any brother and sister they have their arguments and falling out but they are always there for each other. They both live in a wonderful cottage with their mother, Joanne and there step dad Peter and they all live in the cottage which has a garden going all around it and it was full of flowers / plants and shrubs of all kinds and all year round the garden always looked nice. Everywhere you looked you could see flowers blooming and green shrubs everywhere. There were Roses and Carnations and many other plants and
flowers. There were red flowers and pink flowers and yellow flowers and other colours. There was always a nice smell coming from the garden when everything was in bloom and people would stop to have a look at how beautiful the garden was. In the garden was an arch which Peter had made and this had plants growing up it. It looked very nice. There was also an old metal bench in the garden which they all loved to sit on in the summer and watch the world go by. There cottage was down a long lane and on this lane were only 6 other cottages and everyone knew each other and they all got on quite well. Everyone helped each other and all the kids would play together and have loads of fun. There lane was in a village called Woodends and you had to go to the end of the village to get to this lane which had tall trees on both sides, and there branches went over the lane. As you drove down the lane you would drive under the branches and it was always nice seeing them as there leaves change colour and how the trees change from having plenty of leaves of having no leaves at all. In the middle of the local village was a row of cobbled shops and the local school, which both Sapphire and Paul went to. It was an old school that they went to and it is said that the school was built before the village was actually built. Their school is called Woodends Primary and Junior School. The village was made up of houses and cottages and every Saturday there was a market in the village square. Everyone loved coming to this Market and Sapphire and Paul always loved to look on the fruit and veg stall. They both love there fresh fruit. Mark would usually be there with them and they would have a lot of fun. They did not like the butchers stall much because of all the different cuts and types of meat. Yuk they would both think or say as they walked by. Sapphire and Paul loved there village and school was ok and almost everyone, well nearly everyone was nice who lived in their village. Behind Sapphire and Paul’s cottage were there back garden and then a field and a wood which Sapphire and Mark had never been up to. Their mother had always said that they may be allowed to go when she was a bit older. Sapphires best friend was Mark Mattel and he lives with his mother Sarah Mattel down the lane in one of the other cottages. Mark was a little bit shorter than Sapphire and a little bit bigger than Paul and he loves to wear his jeans whenever he can. He loves all his food and will come back for seconds when he can. He loves racing cars and will do what most boys do and he loves playing with more Sapphire and Paul. They had known each other since before they started at school. They all go to school together and they always play together. Soon it would be Sapphires birthday. Sapphire was told that the night before her birthday that both she and her brother Paul would be staying at Marks so that her mum and Peter could get everything ready for her birthday party the next day. Sapphire would be having a party and she could not wait. Every day they all went to school together, waiting for the party. In 9 days it would be her party time and birthday. Sapphire thought about what she would be getting for her birthday so she made a point of not thinking about it. She just thought about other things and it seemed to work. The days soon passed and finally it was Friday and both she and Paul would be sleeping at Marks, and then on Saturday she would be 12 years old. Everyone could not wait. Sapphire went and got all her stuff ready after breakfast and then Paul went and got what he would need for their sleepover at Marks. At about 4pm Mark came and got both Sapphire and Paul and off they went. Marks mum was waiting for them at their door. When they went in some more of their friends were already there waiting for them. There was Dan, Peter, Natasha, Amethyst, and May. They were also sleeping over. Marks mum Sarah had been busy in the kitchen getting all kinds of food ready and there was hot food and cold food plus a cake. Then they all played some games and everyone was having fun. But soon it was time for them all to go to bed and the girls and boys were talking till late. Sarah came up twice to ask them all to go to sleep. Soon everything was all quiet, not a sound. Everyone was sleeping, dreaming. Next morning everyone got up as they all could smell food, Sarah was cooking.
Everyone then wished Sapphire a “Happy 12th Birthday”.
“Have you slept well” asked Mark.
“Oh yes but I feel differently to how I felt yesterday” said Sapphire.
“Happy Birthday “said Sarah as she came into the room.
Soon it was time for everyone to leave and go home and get ready for Sapphires party after dinner. Sarah mum had made a birthday cake for they all got to take some home. Mark walked down the lane with Sapphire and Paul to their Cottage. As they got near, they could see that Sapphires and Pauls mum Joanne had been busy putting up birthday balloons and signs. It looked very good and pretty. The balloons were red and gold and they said 12 on them. They all then went inside. The lounge, dining room and kitchen all looked good and everything was ready for Sapphire party. There were balloons and party signs everywhere you looked. Joanne was in the kitchen with her husband Peter Roll. They had only been married 5 years, but they did live together before that. So this made Peter Pauls dad and Sapphires Step Dad. They were getting all the food ready.
Joanne asked “Sapphire if she would take her stuff upstairs into her bedroom”. Sapphires bedroom was in the loft at the top of the cottage. Paul’s bedroom was at the back of the cottage downstairs next to their parents. In her room was a window that looked out onto the woods and the sky. Upstairs they all went. There was a little set of stairs that went up into the middle of her room. They all stopped and looked at Sapphires room. It had been newly decorated. The walls were painted a pale blue with posters and pictures up everywhere. Sapphire loved the sky at night. The posters were of the sky, stars, planets, constellations and other things. The roof was painted with planets and stars. It all looked great. Her bedding had planets on and stars. There was even a rug with stars and planets on it. It was great. There was even a TV and DVD in her room, all new. Then Sapphire saw something in front of her window that made her smile, a brand new telescope which they had bought for her birthday from Joanne and Peter. Joanne and Peter came up to see what Sapphire thought about her room.
“Great” said Sapphire and gave her mum and Peter a hug and kiss on the cheek.
Both Mark and Paul were having a good look around and exploring Sapphire bedroom.
“I hope I get mine decorated for my birthday” said Paul.
”Oh I know that you will “said Sapphire to Paul “and I know that you will be getting some other surprises as well on your birthday”.
Paul just looked at Sapphire and he winked and then he smiled at her. You see Sapphire is not like most children and only her parents and Paul knows about this. You see when Sapphire was about 2 years old she always seemed to know what people was thinking and she always knew when there was something wrong. Then Sapphire started to move her toys without touching them. She would sit in the middle of the floor looking at her toys and without moving they would come to her. Joanne would watch her doing this and she would just smile at her. Sapphire was a Telepath girl just like her mum and most of the ladies in her family. You see being a telepath runs in Sapphires family but usually only on the girl’s side, but Sapphires and Pauls Uncle James was also a telepath. Sapphire being a telepath meant that she could communicate directly from one persons mind to another’s without speech, writing or other signs or symbols. The older Sapphire got the more she would know and Sapphire had also appeared to be psychic, telekinetic, and intuitive. Sapphire could read people’s minds but she did not like to do this, so she would only do this if she had to or needed to do it. Sapphire also had a sixth sense and she was also able to move small objects. Something happened the week before that Sapphire has not told anyone about. They were on their way to school when Sapphire had a feeling that she needed to go another way to school. Today they would get to school through the town instead of going around town. They were walking along the row of shops when Sapphire felt something was going wrong. She could see all the children waiting to cross the road. There was a man there helping them. The road was clear and they started to cross. It had been raining the night before so the roads were still wet. A van came around the corner and it was making a noise. The van had put his brakes on but his van was sliding on the wet road. The van could not stop. It just kept on sliding. Sapphire looked and saw that the van was going to go straight into the children and the man helping them to cross. Sapphire stopped and watched and thought really hard. She was looking at the van and hoping it would stop. She felt as though she had her hands on the van and that she was stopping it. She opened her eyes and she could see that the van had stopped but its wheels were still going. Finally the wheels stopped. Paul looked at Sapphire. But he did not say anything, he just looked at her.
“They were very lucky” said Mark.
“We had better hurry up and get to school” is all Sapphire said.
No one talked about what had happened that day. Sapphire never told her parents because she did not know if she had actually stopped the van or if it was luck. But she could remember the look on the van driver’s face when his van would not stop and the look on the man’s face when the van was sliding. This would be with her forever and she thought that she hoped it was her that had stopped the van as it had felt good. Sapphire did not know why she felt different on her birthday than any other days. She just knew that she felt different and that she would be telling her parents later as they may know why. Both Peter and Joanne went back to the kitchen to get the last bits of food ready and soon it was time for her party, and soon all of Sapphires and Pauls friends started to arrive. Dan, Peter, Natasha, and May came. Also there was Tracey and Leanne who arrived a little bit late. Everyone was having fun and everyone loved how Sapphires bedroom had been done for her birthday. They all had a good look at her bedroom and they all wanted their rooms to be like hers. The games were fun. They played Musical Chairs, Blind Man’s Bluff, and lots of other games. Soon everyone was sat down eating. Mark had 2 plates of food as he was hungry and all the food was very nice. Then it was time for the cake which was in the shape of a planet. It was the shape of our planet earth. Everyone said how great the cake looked. Everyone got a peace to take home. The sun had been shining all day which had helped Sapphires birthday go down very well, and no one had got wet. Mark and Sapphire then helped her mum to tidy up with Pauls help as well. There was some food left over from the party and Joanne did not know what to do with what was left, should she keep it or bin it.
Mark said “that it’s still nice outside, so why don’t we have a picnic in the field”. “That’s a great idea “said Joanne.
So a little bit later both Joanne and Peter went to get there picnic ready. A Red cloth was put down, plus 5 cushions. One cushion each for all 5 of them. One was Red, one was Gold, one was Pink and Gold, and the fourth one was Silver and finally the fifth one was Red and Black. The picnic plates were all Red and Gold. Soon Peter went and told Sapphire, Paul and Mark the picnic was ready. Everyone came and they all sat down and started eating and talking about their day. Sapphire was telling them about her sleepover at Marks and about the games they had played and about the food they had and how much fun everyone had had. Then Mark was telling them how he had had a great day. And then Paul was telling how they all had loads of fun. Everyone was pleased that everyone had had a great day. At about 7pm Mark went home as it was his time to go in plus his was feeling a bit tired.
He said “goodbye to both Sapphire and Paul and he said that he would call for her and Paul in the morning”.
Sapphire “asked if she could watch a DVD in her room after she had had her bath”. Sapphire always enjoyed her bath with lots and lots of bubbles. The more the better she always told her parents. Plus she also liked her bath to smell nice as well. After her bath she went into her room and settled down to watch at DVD. She watched one of her favourite films. Paul was in his room also watching a DVD. Then after she had watched the film Sapphire went downstairs and said goodnight to both her mum, Paul and Peter, and then she went back to bed. Soon she was dreaming. Sapphire was dreaming about the woods. Walking and looking. She was dreaming that she was walking through the woods with both Paul and Mark and that they were looking at the trees and she could also see a fox and a rabbit and other animals.
The fox was stood watching her, then the fox looked at her and said “Hello Sapphire”, then he walked away.
She then found herself walking again. At the centre of the woods they all stopped. She could see her Cottage and her bedroom window from where she was.
Paul and Mark said “how beautiful everything looked”.
Then she turned around. Behind her was a circle of stones. It looked like someone had put them there. Sapphire, Paul and Mark moved closer to look. The fire was lit and over the fire was a wooden frame. They were looking at the flames of the fire and how the flames were changing colours. On this wooden frame were 2 pans bubbling away. Sapphire also saw some stones for sitting on but they could not see anyone around and all was quiet. The odd thing was that Sapphire and both Paul and Mark were not afraid and she did not even feel afraid or scared. Then it was time for Sapphire to wake up and she could remember all of her dream. Sapphire then sat up in her bed and was thinking about what she wanted to wear today. She was thinking and that’s when it happened. Sapphire had decided that she wanted to wear her favourite Red Jeans and her favourite Pink and White long sleeved top. But before she could move to get her clothes out of her wardrobe the wardrobe doors opened and out came her jeans and top and they landed neatly on her bed. They had just floated out of her wardrobe and onto her bed. They did not make a sound. This had never happened before with Sapphire and she did not know what to think so she just put her jeans and top on and quickly went downstairs. Her mother, Joanne was in the kitchen with Paul cooking breakfast.
Joanne looked at Sapphire and asked “if she was ok” as she looked a little bit upset”.
Sapphire sat down and told her mother and Paul about what had just happened upstairs in her room. But before her mother could say anything, Mark came in so she told Sapphire that they would all talk later. Mark had something to eat with Paul, Sapphire and Joanne. What are you going to do today Mark asked.
“Well I thought that you might like a picnic and to go out and explore” said Joanne.
“Great they all said together and off they went to get ready”.
They soon got there picnic and off they all went. It did not take them long to walk up to the woods. When they all reached the woods Sapphire stopped and just looked.
Mark asked her “if there was anything wrong”.
Sapphire told Mark “all about her dream the night before”.
Paul and Mark listened to everything that was said, and then they moved on. Soon they reached the centre of the woods and they all stopped and stared. In the middle were the Stones set into a circle that Sapphire had seen in her dream.
“That’s a fire pit” said Mark.
“I wondered what that was” said Paul.
“Who’s been her they asked”, but Sapphire did not know.
“I could not see anyone in my dream” she said, “but I think there was someone nearby”.
“Well let’s all sit on these stones and have something to eat” said Paul.
So they all picked a stone to sit on. They all sat and watched the animals in the woods playing. They all saw a deer which appeared to stop and look at them. Then there was a rabbit, this also appeared to stop and look at them. Then Mark tapped Sapphire and pointed. There was a fox sat watching them. Neither of them felt afraid. They just sat looking at the fox and the fox was sat looking and watching them. Then they all could hear Sapphires mother calling them as it was time for them to go back home. When they turned back around the fox had gone. They all walked back to Sapphire and Pauls, and then they told both Joanne and Peter about their day. Joanne and Peter looked at each other, but they did not say anything. Not long after getting back Marks mum; Sarah arrived to take Mark home. It was his bath night and then bed early as it would be school the next day. The next day they were up early and getting ready for school. Mark came for Sapphire and Paul like he always did and off they went. It only took then about 20 minutes to get to school.
On the way to school, Sapphire told Mark and Paul that “she had had the same dream again and everything was the same, even the fox was there”.
Their friends were waiting for them at the school gates, and in they went. There first lesson was with Mrs Wright, Reading and Writing, or in other words English. Then they had History, then Music and there last lesson would be Mathematics. The lunch time bell went and they all went to the dining hall. Today’s menu was Spaghetti with Meatballs, or Pasta in Sauce. Mark had a big helping of Spaghetti with Meatballs. Sapphire and Paul had Pasta in Sauce. For pudding they chose Chocolate Pudding and Custard. They went and sat down on one of the tables by the window as the sun was shining through the windows onto the tables and chairs, and walls. They sat down with Peter and Leanne.
Sapphire had a feeling that two more people would be coming to sit with them and she “whispered this” to Paul.
He looked around and then he saw 2 people coming their way. Two more people then came and sat down opposite them. It was the 2 school bullies, David and Robbie. No one liked them. They both sat staring at Paul, Mark and Sapphire then they threw a bit of pasta at Mark. Mark did not say anything to them; he just ignored them and kept on eating. But Sapphire was not ignoring them. She was busy watching them and thinking. She saw in her mind what they were going to do next and she thought oh no you are not. As David and Robbie went to pick up some more pasta, both of their plates suddenly tipped all their lunch all over there trousers. Everyone in the room was laughing as they ran out of the dining hall. They had food all down there trousers. No wonder everyone was laughing at them as they ran away. Paul just looked at Sapphire and he winked at her. He knew that it was Sapphire who had made the plates go all other them and he was glad that she did. The next lessons went fast. The last bell of the afternoon was the home time bell, end of school. Mark, Paul and Sapphire said goodbye as they left their friends to go home. It only took them about 20 minutes to walk home. Mark went straight home as Sapphires mum Joanne was waiting for her and Paul to come in as she was getting there tea ready, Chips, Beans, Bacon, and bread. They all sat down to eat and Sapphire told her mother about everything that had happened at dinner time at school.
Joanne listened as Sapphire and Paul told her “about everything that had gone on at school”.
They were both throwing food and I thought that they would not be laughing if their plates tipped up all over them. And the next thing that happened was that there plates of food were all over there trousers. I wondered if I had done it, somehow. I have only been able to move small things before Sapphire told her mum. Joanne just sat and looked at her daughter then she spoke to her.
“Yes, I think you did do It.; you will find that you will be able to do other things as well”. “I know about what happened the other day”. “About the van sliding on the wet road and how the van was going to hit the children and the man helping then to cross the road” said Joanne?
“You see there is another secret this family had got and it’s not just about you being a telepath”. “This is just the start of what’s to come and you will find that you may be able to make more things happen, it’s called Magic”. “Magic runs in this family and we have known for a long time that you have been doing magic”. “Stopping the van was magic, but you did not know that then” said Joanne.
Sapphire then asked if “her mother could also do magic”.
“No, I cannot “she said, but she did not let Sapphire know that she was not telling the truth. “Paul will find out when he is about 12 if he can do magic” she told them. “She then told her that my brother James can”. “Not everyone in our family is able to do magic as some family members could and some family members cannot”. “Your grandma use to tell us stories about how there was magic in her family, and how some were given the gift of magic and some were not”. “Being a Telepath and being able to magic is very good”. “We used to think that your Uncle James was a telepath but then we thought out that it is magic that he can do”. “I was one of them who were not given this gift she told Sapphire”, hoping that she wouldn’t notice that she was lying about her not being able to do magic. “But my brother was and it seems as though you have also been given this gift”.
Sapphire then told her mother and Paul “about the dreams she had been having”.
“Your dreams should stop, but I don’t know when”, her mother told her. Joanne then told Sapphire and Paul that “the fox was called Foxy and that the next time you go up to the woods say hello foxy from both me and you”.
“Ok “said Sapphire.
After tea Sapphire and Paul went up to her bedroom. The telescope was in her window waiting for her. Sapphire went to her telescope and she was looking at the sky, and then later she looked at the woods. She could see that someone was sat at the fire but she could not see who it was, but she was not afraid. Paul then had a look and he could also see someone sat at the fire but he could not see who it was. Her mum then came and told her that it was time for them both to go to bed.
So she said “goodnight to everyone” and of to bed she went.
Soon it was Saturday again and in 2 weeks it would be Marks birthday. Mark came to call for Sapphire and Paul.
Joanne said “they could go to the woods, and that she had got them some food ready to take with them”.
When they got outside the sun felt nice and warm and slowly they all walked up to the woods. The sun was shining brightly in the sky and everything looked nice and it was nice being warm. All the animals were there, watching them, waiting. They came to the stones and they sat down and as they all sat down Foxy appeared.
Chapter Two
“Hello foxy” Sapphire said.
Mark looked at the fox.
And then he said “did you just call that fox, foxy? “
“Hello to you both” said foxy.
Mark looked again and said “did that fox just talk”.
“Sorry that I did not talk to you both before, but I did not want to scare any of you”.
Mark, Paul and Sapphire sat looking at foxy as he was talking to them. Then there were more animals. And they could all talk as well. Magic animals could talk but with Sapphire also being a telepath she could also talk to non magic animals. At lunch time they shared all their food with all the animals that were with them and it was soon time for them all to leave. As they were leaving they had the feeling that they were being watched but they could not see anyone. So off they went talking and laughing as they all went back to Sapphires and Pauls. At Sapphires, her mum had done them some food for their tea, Mash, Bacon, and Egg. Whilst they were eating they told Joanne all about their new animal friends.
“Good”, she said.
After tea they all went to play at Marks for a bit. Then Peter came for Sapphire and Paul to take her back home as it was getting dark. The next couple of weeks soon went past quickly. Things were still happening to David and Robbie. Paul loved seeing David and Robbie getting what they got... They have gotten wet. They were walking past a puddle and were kicking water at people and they ended up falling into the puddle. They also ended up with food all over them. They were throwing food at people again and yes again there trays tipped all over them. They also ripped their clothes. They were going past people pulling at their clothes and when David and Robbie bent down there trousers ripped right down the middle. You could see their pants. And other things had happened but they had never been hurt in any way. They just had lots of little accidents. Mark was starting to get excited about his birthday being soon. Every time Sapphire was around Mark she could tell how he was feeling. And she knew how excited he was about his birthday, and she also knew what he was hoping to get for his birthday. Sapphires birthday is in May and Marks birthday is in July and finally the days had flown bye and it was Marks birthday. Paul’s birthday is in December. Mark was all excited and he could not wait for his party. Mark was waiting for Sapphire and Paul to call for him as they were going out to play whilst his mum got his party ready. Out they all went. He did not say much to Sapphire or Paul. He was just talking about what he had got for his birthday, a games console, games, books and other presents for his 12th birthday. Sapphire did not tell him that she had known for a long time what he would be getting for his birthday. Sapphire then told him that he would be getting his present off her at the party. Paul would be giving his present also at the party and he had asked Sapphire about what to get him for his birthday. Sapphire told him and he went with Joanne to get it. Finally it was 1pm and it was time for Marks party. At his party were Sapphire, Paul, Dan, Peter, Natasha, Tracey, and Leanne and everyone was having lots of fun and everyone was able to win a prize. They loved all the prizes. After all the games it was time to eat and Sarah had made a cake and everyone had got a peace to take home with them when they left. When everyone had gone it was very quiet. Mark liked everything that he had got for his birthday. He got books, cars, games and other things. Mark got a watch of Sapphire, which he was wearing. Paul got him a racing car and he loved it. Sapphire and Paul stayed after the party until it was time for her to go home. Peter came when it was time and they said goodbye and left. They only had a week left until it would be there school holidays. There school would be shut for 8 weeks. On Monday Sapphire did not go to school. She had woke up feeling sick and was told by her mum that she had to stay in bed, and that she would be phoning her school and Mark to tell them that she was ill. Sapphire had got a bug and she had to stay in bed all day but she slept for nearly all of it. So Mark came just for Paul instead and he walked to school with him. Both Joanne and Peter kept coming up to check on Sapphire, who was asleep all day, dreaming. By late afternoon she was feeling much better, so she went down stairs to see her mother Joanne and Peter. Her mother warmed some tomato soup up for her to try and eat. They were both glad that she was feeling better. Sapphire did not see Mark at all on Monday, but he came and walked her to school on the Tuesday. The only person she did see was Paul who was also pleased that she was feeling better.
“What’s up” asked Sapphire?
Mark said nothing. But after a short while he spoke to her.
“At school on Monday both David and Robbie were picking on me. They had got me into the toilets and they said that they were going to put my head down the toilet”. Mark then said that he said “they should be the ones putting their own heads down the toilet, instead of picking on him”. “At this they let go off him and they both went and put their heads in the toilets”.
Then as lunch time he saw them in the dining hall and they both had a tray off food.
Mark said “that he thought about them slipping and there food going all over them. Well, they did slip. I think I made them do it, somehow. But how could I” he said to Sapphire confused`.
Sapphire told him that she would “talk to him about it after school and at home time”. And then she told him “to be careful about what he is doing and thinking about”.
All that day at school they made sure that they did not run into or see David or Robbie. Sapphire always seemed to know where both David and Robbie were so they could stay away from them. They just concentrated on their work. It did not take them long to get back to Sapphires as they were quicker than usual. They had all been walking faster.
At Sapphires they went inside and told Joanne about what Mark had said. Joanne told them to sit down and that she would phone Sarah to come over. They were all sat around the kitchen table. The kitchen table was made of Oak and the chairs were also made of oak. There were pictures and knickknacks’ all over the kitchen on shelves and hung on the walls. They all had a warm drink in front of them. Sarah arrived and sat down with them and Mark told them about everything that had happened on Monday at school. Paul sat with them and listened.
Then Mark said “he wondered if he had done it, somehow”.
Mark stared at his mum when she said to him that “he had done it”. Both Sarah and Joanne then told them about how “he also had the gift of magic”. Both Sarah and Joanne had grown up together and they both had come from family that had magic in their lives. “They did not want to say anything before because not everyone in their family has this gift”. “Both Sapphire and Mark have been given this gift”. “Paul has to wait to see if he will get this gift as well”. “Everyone one has different abilities and strengths that they can do”. “They would both find out later and as they get older”.
When they had all finished thinking and talking, Joanne asked if they “would like to stay for tea as there was plenty and they were all ready there”.
Mark asked “if they could”, and Sarah said “yes”.
They all had steak pie, chips, and peas. No one had left anything on their plates and the gravy was mopped up with bread. That was very nice they all said to Joanne and they also thanked her. After tea Sarah went back home and Mark stayed at Sapphires for a bit. They were all talking about what had gone on and what they had all found out, and how excited they were about it. At 7pm Peter had arrived back and he walked Mark home. They both slept well that night. Sapphire did not know that Mark was also having the same dream that she had been having. The sun was shining brightly when Sapphire woke up in the morning and it felt warm on the end of her bed. Down stairs she could hear the phone ringing and Peter answered it. She could then hear someone coming up the stairs to her room, it was Joanne. You don’t have to get ready for school as they have just phoned; there was a fire in the night. They think it was a heater that had been left on too long, but they would know later. So it looks like your holidays have started, early. Sapphire got up and went downstairs. Paul and Mark were waiting for her.
“I hope we didn’t do it” Mark said.
Joanne explained that they could not have done it. Joanne explained how “they could make David and Robbie do things, but they could not cause any harm to anyone”. “A fire is not good; also to use magic to make a fire you would need stronger magic which you don’t have”. “You have not got strong magic yet”, Joanne said.
Joanne had overheard what they were saying. Then Sapphire asked Mark what he felt like doing today. Let’s go to the woods and see foxy and all our other friends.
“Can I come as well” asked Paul?
“Yes” said Sapphire and Mark together.
“I thought you might say that” Joanne said. “I have prepared a picnic for all of you and any of your animal friends that are there”.
On the way up to the woods, Mark asked Sapphire “if she was still having the same dream”.
“Yes”, I am she replied. “Why”?
“Last night I had the same dream that you have been having”.
Mark then told Sapphire what his dream was like and Sapphire then told him that it was exactly the same as her dream. When they were walking through the woods they noticed how quiet it was. It was a lot quieter than normal.
“I don’t remember it ever being this quiet” said Paul.
Usually they could hear all animals going about their business, but not today. When they got to the centre of the woods they noticed that the stones and the fire pit were still there. But where was foxy? And where was Rabbit? They were always there to meet them and to share their food.
“I have a bad feeling about this” said Sapphire to both Mark and Paul. “I feel like there is something wrong and that they are somehow trapped” Sapphire said.
“I too feel like there is something wrong, it’s never this quiet” said Mark`.
So off they went looking for them. They had not gone far when they could hear voices, someone was talking, and they could hear two men. They were talking about how much they would get for what they had trapped. Both Sapphire and Mark looked at each other. Paul stood listening. Then they quietly moved closer. They saw that both the men were dressed in baggy trousers and jeans and they looked dirty. There black hair was a mess and looked like they had never used a brush. They did not have any coats on they were just wearing a dirty shirt. One had a red shirt on and one had a denim shirt on. As they got nearer they could see some cages. In the cages were Foxy and Rabbit, plus Badger. All the animals that they knew were missing and they could see them all in the cages. The cages were set on the floor and on top of each other near where they were stood. The cages looked quite old and they all had a pad lock on them. Some of the cages were rusty and there were small and large cages. They could see all there animal friends in the cages and they were looking at Sapphire, Mark and Paul. Sapphire looked at the animals in the cages and then she nodded.
“We have to help them” said Mark.
“I agree” Sapphire said. “If we can open the cages the animals will be able to run away”. “They are waiting ready”.
“But how do you know that” Mark asked.
The men heard them and they shouted whose there. Show yourselves. So Mark, Paul and Sapphire stood up.
“What have we here” one of the men said.
“Three intruders, children as well” the other one said`.
“You are the intruders”, Sapphire shouted.
As Sapphire shouted at them she moved her hands. The cages flew open and all the animals were then able to escape and all the animals ran in different directions. They were able to escape thanks to Sapphire, Mark and Paul. “Stop them” the men shouted to each other.
“No shouted Sapphire again”.
This time when she moved her hands something happened that had never happened before, both men went flying. Up in the air they flew and they landed at the other side of where they were stood.
`What’s happening they said`?
Paul, Mark and Sapphire glanced at each other and they all turned and ran as they were not staying around to find out what was going on. They ran all the way back to Sapphires Cottage. As soon as they all got inside they told Joanne and Peter about the two men in the wood and about what had happened. Peter went straight out and put a lock that he had on the back gate. He then took Mark home and explained to Sarah about everything that had happened. Everyone locked their doors and windows. Sapphire and Paul was in her room looking out of her Telescope when she saw Foxy running towards their back garden. Two men were behind him, chasing him, trying to catch him. Sapphire watched. Foxy was a lot faster than both the men and they were finding it hard to catch up to him. Sapphire and Paul could see that it looked like the men were carrying a net as they ran. Foxy jumped into their garden and he then was able to find a place to hide. Under the shed is where he was hiding. Sapphire hoped that he would be quite safe under their shed. Sapphire and Paul then went down stairs and told Peter and Joanne “about foxy hiding in there garden”.
“He will be ok” said Peter and Joanne together.
Sapphire said that she “knows that Foxy and all the other animals were safe and that they were all in hiding”.
Peter looked out back through the kitchen window, but he could see no one or anything.
“I think they may have gone” he said. “I don’t know if foxy is still there, but it’s getting late so I will check in the morning” said Peter.
Sapphire was thinking about foxy as she went to sleep. Sapphire was dreaming. She was dreaming that she was walking through the woods. Paul was walking with her and he was holding her hand as it was dark. The only light was coming from the moon. They were walking through the woods. She stopped at the far side. There she met foxy. He told them that he and some of the other animals were leaving the woods for a short time. This was because the two men have been putting more traps down, so it was not safe for them to stay so they had decided to leave for a short while. They would be back after the men had gone and when they felt that it would be safe for them to return. They hope that if there are no animals in the woods that the men will go.
Sapphire and Paul said “goodbye” and then she woke up and she was thinking about what she had dreamt about.
It was raining outside and she was listening to the rain on her window. The rain was tapping and dripping on her window and it looked dark and cloudy outside. Not a very nice day she thought. She got up and then ran downstairs and Paul was already up waiting for her.
“I had a dream about Foxy last night” he said.
Their mother was busy in the kitchen. Joanne was making Porridge for their breakfast.
“Where is Peter” Sapphire and Paul asked`?
“He is in the garden checking that everything’s secure” said Joanne to them both.
Sapphire put her shoes on and her coat on and went outside to Peter. Paul came running after her. Peter was near the back gate, so Sapphire and Paul walked over to him.
“Good morning” said Peter to them both.
Sapphire saw that the lock on the gate was broken. It had been broken in the night. The two men had broken it when they had tried to get into the garden as they were looking for Foxy. Luckily they were unable to find him and any of the other animals. Sapphire went over to the gate and looked at the lock on the gate, and at the gate. As Sapphire touched the lock something happened. Peter and Paul stood looking at Sapphire. Something happened that they had never seen before and had happened before. As Sapphire touched the lock it had repaired its self. They all quickly went inside. Both Sapphire and Paul told them about her dream last night. Pauls dream was exactly the same as what Sapphire had had the previous night.
Peter then told Joanne about “the lock on the gate and how it had repaired itself” as Sapphire touched it`.
“Wow” said Joanne. “It appears that you are lucky”. “So far you have done things that others cannot”.
Just then the phone rang. It was Sarah. She was talking to Joanne on the phone. After a while she put down the telephone. She then sat down at the kitchen table.
“That was Sarah on the phone” she said. “Apparently there have been two men asking around about three children a girl and 2 boys that usually play in the woods and they were asking if anyone knew where they lived”. “But no one has told them anything”.
Sapphire went up to her room. She was looking at the woods through her Telescope and she could see that the two men were in the woods setting up more traps. Sapphire could hear her mum shouting her so she went downstairs. Paul and Joanne were waiting for her.
“I need you to go and pack your bag”. “Your Uncle James, my brother, is on his way to pick you both up. I have phoned him and explained to him what has been going on, and he’s agreed that you can go and stay with him for a couple of weeks, and Mark is also going with you. He is busy packing and will be coming over soon”.
Sapphire ran upstairs and used some magic to pack her stuff, so it did not take her long. Paul also packed his bag quickly. She then got her Telescope ready. When she came downstairs Mark, Paul and Sarah were already waiting for her. A short time later they heard a car pull up out front and they all went to see who it was. It was Sapphires and Pauls Uncle James. They put all their bags into the boot of his jeep. The telescope went on the seat. Everyone then said goodbye and waved as they were leaving. On their way they played eye spy even James had a go. They had fun in the jeep. Both Paul and Mark sat in the back with the Telescope Soon they came to a town called Falcon Woods. They kept on driving and soon they came to a long lane which they drove down. They went down Falcon Lane which had tall trees growing at either side and there branches went over the Lane and Sapphire thought how nice it looked. Everything looked nice to say how wet it actually was outside. At the end of the lane were some big tall iron gates. These gates had been painted black and Paul thought how smart they actually looked and he could not wait to see what was inside behind the gates. On either side of the gates was a wall that went all around their Uncle James property. The gates opened and they drove through. They then stopped at a very big house. `Wow a mansion, Mark, Sapphire and Paul said`.
They had all forgotten how big Uncle James House was. They pulled up at the front entrance and they all got out. Uncle James carried all their stuff inside and Uncle James wife Rose was waiting for them.
“I hope that you are all well and have had a good trip” Rose said to them. They all said “that they had had a good trip”.
Uncle James showed them all to their rooms and then later he showed them all around. Mark and Paul were showed their rooms first and then Sapphire was showed her room. It was quite a large room. The carpet was red and gold and her walls were red and cream with hints of gold. At one end of the room was a four poster bed with gold curtains and glittery netting. There were draws and a wardrobe. At the other end of the room was a large picture of a lady in a very fancy gown. How nice Sapphire thought. There was a small set of draws under one of the four windows and the curtains were red and gold and they touched the floor. There was a tap on her room door it was her Uncle James. She knew that it was Uncle James before she even answered the door. He had come to see if everything was ok for her.
“I bet you knew it was me knocking on your door” he said.
Behind his back was a Telescope, much bigger than the one she had. She helped him to set the telescope up on the small set of draws that was under the window. James then left her to get settled in. Sapphire looked through the telescope. In the rear gardens she could see a lot of tall trees and plenty of plants, flowers and bushes. Plus she could also see a maze. Just then Mark and Paul came and knocked on her door and they went downstairs. They soon found James and Rose. They were in the kitchen. James showed them both around and then they went back to the kitchen. Rose was busy cooking. Rose was baking some bread and buns. Both Sapphire and Mark sat at the table, watching. Paul was also sat watching and he could not take his eyes of the bread and buns that Rose was making. As soon as the bread was ready everyone had some with butter on.
“Yummy”, everyone said`.
James then started to tell them about their house. The house had belonged to Roses parents, and when they both died, it had been left to Rose. There were ghosts and secret passages, though he had never found any of the passages. Maybe you both might have better look in finding them. Uncle James had never told them about the passages and ghosts before because he did not want to frighten them as they were young. Rose asked them to go and get ready for lunch and that she would meet them in the dining room. The dining room was long and there was a long table. On either side of the dining room were tall windows which had long curtains. These curtains looked thick and heavy and Sapphire noticed that these also touched the floor. The curtains were Gold and Beige and they had flowers on them. There were also pictures and portraits on all of the walls. They all sat down and waited. James came in and sat with them. Then Rose came in with a trolley which was full of food and the food was then put on the table. There was bacon, tomato’s, beans, sausages, hash browns, toasted bread and sausage rolls. Plus there was a fudge cake, creams tarts, and buns. All home made. Everyone tucked in as there was plenty to eat and go around, so everyone had seconds. Mark and Paul also had thirds. Sapphire was going to help Rose clear the table, but Rose told them to go and play so off they all went. They decided to have a good look around, and maybe they might find a secret passage or two. They all went into the reading room or library as some would call it. When they were inside someone said “hello” to them. They both looked around, but they could not see anyone.
“Hello again” said the voice`.
“I’m over here at the window`” the voice said.
They both turned and looked at the windows. There they could see a ghost of a gentleman who was dressed in old clothes. No one felt afraid. This made Paul jump as he had never seen a ghost. He told them that his name was George and that he was one of Roses ancestors.
“Pleased to meet you” said Sapphire.
Mark agreed. We all hope that you enjoy your stay here. We all know that you will have a great time exploring this place.
“We”, said Mark.
“Oh yes”, said George. “I am not the only ghost that inhabits this place. There are others. All friendly, he added. You will gradually get to meet all the other ghosts. Has James told you that there are secret passages hidden in this place”?
“Yes”, Sapphire said”.
“We are going to have a look around and see if we can find any of them” said Sapphire.
“We ghosts know where they all are, but we are not going to tell you where any of them are. If we did tell you, that would take the fun out of finding them and it would make it too easy. But I can tell you this much, there is an entrance to a passage hidden somewhere in this room. But it is up to you three to find it”, George said.
Chapter 3
Sapphire, Paul and Mark started to look around the room to see if they could find out where the secret passage was in that room.
George said “goodbye” and he floated through the far wall.
“Scary” Mark said.
“I agree” said Paul.
They all started to walk around the library. They were having a look and moving anything that could move. They did not find anything so they all sat down.
“How about those portraits”, said Sapphire...?
“That’s a good idea” agreed Paul and Mark. So they all went over to the pictures and started to look. None of the pictures moved.
“I have a feeling that there is something behind that portrait over there” said Sapphire.
There was only one left on the far wall. So over they all went. The portrait was off an old lady and a gentleman. By the clothes they were wearing they looked very old. They all looked at the picture and then at the pictures frame. The picture had a gold plaque under it which said they were both called Edward and Elizabeth and they had died in 1908 and 1910. They felt around the frame and something clicked. The portrait slid sideways and behind there was an opening.
“We all make a good team”, said Mark.
Sapphire agreed and laughed. They all entered the opening and they followed the passage. They heard the picture close behind them. They found themselves walking inside the walls. Sapphire was in front and then there was Paul and then finally there was Mark. It was dark where they were inside the walls but they could see a little bit of light coming from somewhere. There were cobwebs hanging from the wall and they looked quite pretty Sapphire thought. They kept walking until they reached the end of the passage. A picture opened up and out they climbed. They both turned around to see which picture they had come out off. The portrait was of Edward and Elizabeth, but they were stood differently. They noticed that they were stood in the dining room. So there is a passage that leads from the dining room to the library and from the library to the dining room.
“Did you notice how the portraits were the same, they were just painted differently”, Sapphire said.
“I did”, said Mark and Paul.
Just then James came into the dining room.
`Here you are I have been looking for you. You weren’t in here earlier, were you, Said James`.
“We have just come through a secret passage from the library”, Sapphire told her uncle James.
“Great” he said.
“You’ve all found a passage that leads from the library to this dining room”. “Wow”, he said.
“Will you show us later” he asked`?
“Anyway, would any of you like to call your parents” said James?
“Yes, yes” they all said together.
James just laughed.
“Come on then” he said, “who would like to go first”?
“Let Sapphire go first” Mark said and “then Paul, I will go last” he said.
“Thanks”, she said.
Sapphire spoke to her mother Joanne first and then she spoke to Peter. She had only seen them in the morning, but she still had a lot to tell them. Paul then had his go and then he passed the phone over to Mark. He spoke to his mum Sarah, and when he had finished he handed the phone back to James. Mark then went and joined Sapphire and Paul in the kitchen. Sapphire was talking to her Aunty Rose. Paul was sat listening and he was eating a piece of bread. They were talking about what they had all been up to. Rose was pleased that they had all been able to find one of the secret passages, and that they had also had a lot of fun. Mark and Paul then left Rose and Sapphire in the kitchen, and they went to find James. Sapphire was helping Rose to prepare and cook there tea. They were making corn beef pasties, cheese and onion pasties, chips, mash potatoes and leeks, and for pudding apple crumble and also rhubarb crumble served with custard or cream or even ice-cream. Soon everything was cooked and on the kitchen table. It just needed taking into the dining room. James, Paul and Mark entered the kitchen.
“Marks been working very hard”, said James.
“So has Sapphire”, said Rose.
“Pauls also been working hard to say that he is a little bit younger than both Sapphire and Mark” said James.
“Sapphire can help me anytime she wants to”, said Rose.
“Thanks”, said Sapphire.
“All the food looks great”. “How about we all eat in the kitchen”, suggested James.
“That’s a wonderful idea”, Rose said.
So they all sat down and started eating and talking. They all told James and Rose about everything that had been happening at home, and all about their friends in the woods behind Sapphires cottage.
“You both sound like two special people to be given the gift of magic”, said James.
Then Sapphire told them about the dream she kept having, and how Mark was also having the same dream.
“I haven’t had that dream yet” said Paul “but if I do I know that Sapphire will be able to help me” said Paul.
James said that “when he was 11 years old, that he had a similar dream every night”. “But his dream did stop later on”. “They will find out later why they are having the same dreams”, said James “as he could not remember when his dreams had actually stopped”.
After their tea they all went into the lounge. Both Sapphire and Mark were looking at all the pictures on all the walls. Paul was looking at some different pictures that were also on the walls. They noticed that one of the pictures was the same as the portrait in the kitchen.
“We will try them tomorrow” said Sapphire to Mark and Paul.
They then went and sat down with James who had just turned the TV on. He then asked Sapphire, Paul and Mark if they would like to watch a DVD. They both said yes, and then they went to choose a DVD to watch. They all agreed on two DVDs to watch. After watching the DVDs Rose brought in some milk and cookies for their suppers. Then they all said goodnight and off to bed they went. They said goodnight to each other as they went to their separate bedrooms. They all fell asleep quite quickly after their busy 1st day at their Uncle James and Auntie Roses mansion. Sapphire woke up the next morning with the sun shining through her windows. The sun felt very warm on her pillow and she smiled at how bright the sun was shining through the windows. She got dressed and went down stairs. Mark and Paul were already up and they were sat at the kitchen table eating and talking to James.
“Ah, good morning”, said James.
“Good morning” said Mark.
“Good morning” said Paul.
Sapphire went and sat down next to Mark and Paul. Well it looks like the weather is changing thought Sapphire. The suns gone and I know that it’s raining, a miserable Thursday morning she thought.
“No one would be playing outside today” said Rose as she entered the kitchen`. For breakfast everyone had a full English breakfast.
“Why don’t you all go and do some more exploring”, James suggested.
“That’s a great idea”, said Sapphire, and off they went.
They all went into the lounge to have a closer look at the portrait they had noticed the night before. Underneath the portrait it said Matilda. They felt around the frame and it clicked and then it opened. Inside they went. Rose and James were still in the kitchen talking when they both came out of the passage.
“Hello you three, you found another passage”, and “where does this one come from” asked James.
“We came from the lounge”, said Sapphire.
“Great”, so that’s more passages you have found” said Rose.
“You have found more passages than I have”, said James.
“Let’s go and see if we can find any more”, Mark suggested.
Later that day they found another passage which led from the hall downstairs to the hall upstairs. The portrait had said Arthur, died 1900. They all heard James go into the dining room. They went to see what he was doing. When they got there, they saw that James was polishing the dining table.
“You three can help if you like”, he said.
They were having fun whilst they were cleaning and they were all talking whilst they were working very hard. Sapphire was busy polishing the end of the table when she heard a sound behind her. She heard a cracking sound, a sound of breaking glass. A sound that she did not like to hear and she hoped she would never hear this sound again. She quickly turned around and as she did she put her hands up to protect herself. Glass was breaking and the glass was falling towards her. James and Mark shouted look out. Something had hit the dining room window and the glass had shattered. Glass was going everywhere. Glass was flying everywhere. Shards of glass were falling. Sapphire raised her hands and arms up in front of her. She was trying to protect herself from all the glass that was falling. As Sapphire put her arms and hands up, the glass froze in mid air. The glass stopped falling. James, Paul and Mark stared at the window and Sapphire. They watched as the glass then went back into the window frame and fixed it. Everyone just stood and looked at the window. They could not believe what they had just seen happen.
“That's my sister” said Paul.
Sapphire then put her hands back down and just looked. James, Paul and Mark ran up to her. Are you alright they both asked as once. Then James asked how she had done that as she hadn’t been to magic school yet. Plus he did not know that she could do something like that, and what had she actually done. Especially as he didn’t think she had been to magic school. Have you done anything like this before, he asked.
“Yes”, said Sapphire.
Rose heard all the noise and she came in to see what was up, and then she suggested that they all should have a warm drink, and something to eat.
“We can talk over dinner”, said James.
For dinner they had homemade vegetable soup with croutons, and homemade bread. They all tucked in. Then Sapphire started to tell her Uncle James about how Peter had put a lock on their back gate. “It was because of the two strange men”. “The ones that were after the animals they were all told”. Rose told them that they knew about the two men.
My sister, your mother Joanne “explained to us everything that had gone on back home”, said James.
“That is why you are both here”, said Rose.
“Thanks for having us” said Mark.
“What about the lock on the gate” said James?
“Oh yes, the lock” said Sapphire.
“The night that Peter had put the lock on, Foxy was running away from the men who were chasing him. All the animals ran away, they escaped. That night I was also dreaming that I was in the woods and that foxy was telling me and Paul that he and some other animals were leaving for their own safety. When I got up, Peter was in the garden. We went out to him and I saw that the lock had been broken on the gate. When I touched the lock to look at it, the lock fixed itself” said Sapphire to everyone listening.
“It just fixed itself” Paul said.
“Also when I first found out that I could do magic was after my birthday. I woke up feeling different on my birthday. I was sitting on my bed thinking about what I was going to wear. When I had decided, the clothes then just came flying out of my wardrobe and onto my bed” Sapphire told them.
“Nothing like that has ever happened to me”, said Mark.
“There's time yet for that to happen” said James.
“Remember that Sapphire has been doing magic before you even knew you could do magic” James said to Mark.
Just then the phone started ringing. James got up and answered the telephone. It was Joanne was on the phone. Both she and James were talking for a while, and then he passed the phone to Sapphire. Sapphire told her mother about the passages and about what had happened in the dining room. Joanne told her how lucky she had been before the call ended. Sapphire then passed the telephone to Paul who spoke with Peter and then the call ended. The next call was from Sarah. Mark was telling her all about what had happened that day.
“Just promise me you will both be careful”, she said.
Mark promised that he would and then the call ended. They spent the rest of the day looking around and exploring. They even met George again and he introduced them to Matilda, another ghost. Paul liked Matilda. She looked kind and friendly he thought. Plus Matilda was funny as well he thought to himself. Sapphire knew what he was thinking and she smiled at him. Matilda said “that she could see that they had found some of the secret passages”. “And I also see that you have found the passage that is behind my portrait” she said.
“Yes”, Mark said as they all talked to both Matilda and George for a short while longer`.
Then the ghosts left them exploring. Soon it was time for their tea and then it was soon time for bed. They were all tired after such a busy day. Paul went to bed first as he was younger and he was falling asleep downstairs. Over the next few days they could not go out as it was still raining outside so they had to stay in, but James and Rose gave them some jobs to do, so the time soon passed. And after they had done their jobs they went off to play in the mansion. The rain finally stopped on the following Wednesday. Finally the sun was out and everything was dry.
“Great” they all said and they went to get there breakfast, Bacon, eggs, beans and bread.
After they had their breakfast, James asked “if they would like to have a look around the garden”. ”Yes please” Sapphire, Paul and Mark said.
Then they went out. They soon found the maze that they had seen. It looked big. They all went in. Mark did not know which way to go, so he followed Sapphire. And Paul made sure that he kept close to the both of them as he did not want to get lost and left behind in the maze. Sapphire seemed to know which way to go and she explained to Mark that in one of her dreams she is walking through this maze. They soon came to the middle of the maze, and they looked around. There were benches set around a statue. The statue was a white unicorn made of marble with a fairy sat on its back. Pretty they all agreed. I wonder if the statue is any of Roses relatives thought Sapphire. Sapphire, Paul and Mark were having a good look at the unicorn. It felt smooth and cold. Sapphire was feeling the unicorn’s horn when it moved and then it clicked. They all took a step back. The statue was moving. When the statue stopped they could see some steps leading into the ground. The steps lead to a passage.
“Let’s see where it goes”, said Mark.
“Come on then”, Sapphire said, and they went slowly and carefully down the steps and passage. At the bottom of the stairs was a very dark passage. Sapphire saw a chain and she pulled it. A row of lights came on.
“Great”, Mark said.
`”The statues just closed behind us”, Sapphire said.
“I heard it close as well” Mark said.
“So did I” Paul said and it “made me jump as well”.
They all looked at the passage and then they started to walk down it. It looked a very long passage. There were lights on the walls so it was not to dark. As they were walking they noticed that there rooms on both side. They looked in them, but there was nothing in the first few rooms, just a lot of cobwebs and dust. They kept moving along. Ahead they came across a room next to some steps. In this room was a load of old furniture and pictures and oddments. At the top of the steps was the back of a portrait. After having a look in the rooms they went up the steps and opened the portrait. The portrait led into the kitchen. James and Rose were sat at the kitchen table, and when the portrait opened they both jumped.
“Oh”, it’s you said Rose. “We wondered where you had got to as James was about to come and find you. He thought that you may have got lost in the maze, Rose told them”.
“Sapphire seemed to know the way through the maze as she had been dreaming about it”, Mark said to them.
James asked “where they had come from”. “They all told him about the unicorn statue and how its horn opened up the passage”. “They also told them about all the things that they had found in the rooms of the passage”.
“Well I would like to have a look in those rooms at sometime” said Rose. “Anyway let’s have a bite to eat and then would you mind showing me all the passages you have both found”, James asked. Sapphire, Paul and Mark agreed to show him the passages that afternoon. Lunch was delicious. They had burgers and chips. All home made of course. That afternoon was very busy. They were showing James all the passages that they had managed to find so far. They were all having fun going through all the passages. They even made James jump a few times. Later that afternoon they all phoned their parents. They only had one more day there, and then James would be taking them back home. Mark and Paul stayed with James and Sapphire was in the kitchen with Rose. Both Sapphire and Rose were very busy making tea. After tea they all went into the lounge. They were talking about their time at James. They had been there for nearly two weeks. As soon as it got dark both Sapphire and Mark went to her bedroom. They were going to use the telescope. Sapphire let Mark go first and then Paul. Whilst Mark was looking at the stars, Sapphire went to look at the portrait that was hanging in her room. She touched the side and it clicked open. Mark soon stopped what he was doing and went over to her.
“Wow”, another passage he said.
“Another passage” said Paul, “but that's a ladder” he said`.
Inside was a ladder, not a passage like the others. They all climbed up the ladder and they went up to the top. They looked around. They were in the attic. Suddenly George came over and said “hello” to them both.
“You have found us then”, he said.
They all followed him. They could here faint music which was getting louder. There was a ghost’s party. Ghosts were dancing, having fun. Sapphire, Paul and Mark joined in and they had loads of fun. But soon they had to go. That night they fell asleep as soon as their heads touched there pillows. They had had a busy day and they were all tired. There last day was a nice and sunny day. Both Sapphire and Mark went down stairs. Paul was already downstairs waiting.
“What took you so long” he said.
They went into the kitchen as they were both hungry. Rose was there, but there was no James. Rose told them that he had gone into town to get some shopping that she needs. James came back as they were all eating. He said hello to them both, and then he sat down.
“What would you three like to do on your last day”?
“We don’t know” said Sapphire, Paul and Mark together.
“Well, you could explore some more”, said James, “or play in the garden, or we could go to the local theme park nearby”.
“Can we go to the park”, asked Sapphire?
“Well, I have already spoken to both your parents and they have both said that it is ok”, he told them.
“Great” they all said and they all went to get ready.
Rose did them some food to take so that they could have something to eat at the theme park. Soon they were on their way.
This is only the Start. More to come etc.
